- Data Privacy: The platform will handle sensitive wildfire data, including remote sensing and real-time information. Ensuring proper data privacy and protection protocols are in place is crucial.
- Interoperability: The system must comply with legal requirements across different Canadian provinces, considering the multi-jurisdictional nature of wildfire fighting. (See note below)
- Environmental Impact: The tool is designed to aid in reducing the environmental damage caused by wildfires, which is an ethical priority.
- Job Displacement: The automation of data collection and integration might reduce manual roles in wildfire intelligence processing, but the tool is intended to enhance decision-making rather than replace human roles.
- Equitable Access: The system must ensure equal access to all Canadian wildfire agencies to avoid any potential discrimination in resource distribution across provinces. (See note below)
- Accuracy and Impact of Decisions: This data will guide critical decisions in wildfire response, affecting the lives and belongings of people in affected areas. If inaccurate or outdated data is used, it could result in improper decisions, putting lives at risk. Ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of the data is essential.
- Interoperability & Equitable Access: These points might not be directly applicable at the current stage, as this project is only being used for research objectives by CRIM and will not be deployed for use by jurisdictions upon completion. However, they remain important considerations as the tool is ultimately intended to be used by wildfire agencies in the future.
