Linux install non-privileged

The download page shows an *.rpm I presume it install itself in the usual official spots. May we have a Linux download for non-privilege users? Some of us are in a corporate environment, not in our own Linux, no root access.

Use the AppImage from the same release (Terax_<version>_amd64.AppImage). It runs from your home directory with no install step and no root:

mkdir -p ~/Applications
mv ~/Downloads/Terax_*_amd64.AppImage ~/Applications/
chmod +x ~/Applications/Terax_*_amd64.AppImage
~/Applications/Terax_*_amd64.AppImage

If it fails with a FUSE error (common on locked-down corporate machines without libfuse2), extract it instead. That also needs no root:

cd ~/Applications
./Terax_*_amd64.AppImage --appimage-extract    # creates ./squashfs-root
./squashfs-root/AppRun

If you'd rather use the .rpm contents directly, you can unpack it without installing: rpm2cpio Terax-*.rpm | cpio -idmv puts usr/bin/... under the current directory. But that binary links against the system's WebKitGTK, so it only runs if the machine already has the right version. The AppImage is the safer option.

For a menu entry, put a .desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications/ pointing Exec= at the AppImage (or AppRun).
