Bitcoin Exchange

Idea

We're going to build a Bitcoin exchange, and leave it open source. This will include:

1. A web interface for placing orders.
2. A fully functional matching engine.
3. A test suite/ market simulator.

Why?

Because it could be really fun. There are only a few bitcoin matching engines that our open source, most of which are at least 3 years old, and poorly written. Why not give back? This could also be great for future employment opportunities.

Technical Details

I would really like to use a language with a bit more kick. I would like to use Scala or Clojure (Java is fine too), because I have a lot of experience with those languages, but that's obviously up for discussion. Buttercoin.com (a YC backed company) is also working on an open sourced Bitcoin matching engine in Scala (could be a good reference). No PHP. Full stop.
