Eye prescription verification system

Overview

This is a prototype with the potential to become a real startup. There is a need in the eye care industry to provide an API for communication between contact lens/glasses retailers (e.g. 1-800 Contacts or Coastal Contacts) and eye care providers (e.g. your local eye doctor). When a customer wants to order, for example, his contacts online, the online retailer must verify this prescription with the customer's eye doctor. The industry standard today for this communication is at best by fax, and at worst by phone. It is an incredibly inefficient and costly problem for both eye care providers and retailers. This service is intended to fill that need.

This service will potentially take advantage of technologies such as Interactive Voice Response (IVR) phone systems, Voice-Recognition, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and digital fax integration.

MVP

The minimum viable product would be used in an eye doctor's office to handle incoming prescription requests via fax and/or phone, and compile a daily prescription request list for the doctor to review and respond to.
