UTF-8 not respected even when selected in options

I have an issue where Mariëlla's becomes Mariëlla's even when I select UTF-8 as the char encoding.
Other special chars are also not done properly.

I'd also love an option to skip these from being used from a list (without needing to edit a 5k wordlist ofc.
I had to resave the file again as multiple other encodings, but somehow it suddenly shows correct chars for accented chars. But I can't undo it so the settings aren't taking instantly as I'd expect.

The option "Character encoding of text files" currently applies to writing files only, not reading files, such as loading a word list file. When reading Unicode text from a file, the encoding (UTF-16, UTF-16-BE, UTF-8) needs to be specified as a byte-order mark (BOM) at the beginning of the file. I gather that your word list file doesn't contain a UTF-8 BOM and therefore is erroneously loaded as ANSI-encoded text by Password Tech. You can add the UTF-8 BOM using a tool such as Notepad++ (via main menu: Encoding | UTF-8-BOM). With this change, the word list should be loaded properly.

I will extend the meaning of the option "Character encoding of text files" such that it also applies to reading files as the default encoding in case the BOM is not specified in the file. This change will be contained in the upcoming version 3.5.7.

Ah! Didn't know that only meant for output before. I did experiment re-saving files as ANSI and UTF-8 with BOM indeed. Thanks for the explanation and my bad for misunderstanding.
