Hi !
A developer opens the browser dozens/hundreds of time per day while working, and every time one opens a new tab, a flurry of information and noise appears, which breaks focus immediately.
We all know context-switching kills productivity, and having dozens of article cards with colours, faces, drawings, hot announcements, tag pills, icons, thumbnails, badges etc. immediately draws the brain's attention, which greatly increases cognitive load and slows intentional task execution.
This attention-capturing UI prevents deep focus, and I would like to offer a solution to this.
The solution would be to have a toggle zen/news mode, which will switch between the classic view and an almost empty dashboard which will only contain a few elements, and only if the user opts for them. Those elements are :
- The toggle button (top right, inconspicuous)
- A search bar (in the middle of the page, with multiple engines - trivial to implement)
Optionally :
- An analogic clock, dark and inconspicuous
- A very simple pomodoro timer
- A basic todo list (no advanced features, just a list with checkboxes and a few tabs)
The background would be extremely sober, likely a dark background with light gradients.
I would like to open a PR for this feature. Do you have any remarks/recommendations ?
Have a great day,
Elias
