This one reworks the entire power path, so the Power Monitor is what needs eyes.

Everyone: open the Power Monitor with a charger plugged in. Per-port watts should look the same as before. Then unplug and watch the card clear. It should go within a second or two, not linger and not flicker.

@aguilaair you are the one person who can settle the main fix. On the M1 Pro, charge over USB-C with nothing on MagSafe and tell me whether the per-port card shows watts or still says it is waiting. That case is why this build exists.

@Caruso8677, @Mostxlnt M1 and M2 Air: I want to know it stays quiet on yours. If a port shows a charging figure that is not real, that is the failure worth catching.

Also worth a glance if you use them: the menu bar watts readout while opening and closing the Power Monitor a few times, and the power widget.

Thanks, that is already useful. Three things.

That is the cable detail view. The screen I need is the Power Monitor (the bolt icon), which is the one that was stuck. Same port, same setup.

And yes please, charger straight into the port with nothing on MagSafe. The fix stands down whenever macOS already reports a contract anywhere, so a MagSafe charge would hide tit.

Do you have a Pro licence? The Power Monitor is a Pro screen, so you will not be able to get to it without one. If you have not got one, email me at hello@whatcable.uk and I will send one over.

Worth saying: your screenshot already shows a negotiated 20V @ 2.00A on that port, which is what I was hoping to see. I cannot tell from that alone whether it came from the new code or from macOS publishing it directly, since the fix deliberately stands down when macOS answers for itself. The Power Monitor screen is what settles it.

Could I ask for one more thing: run Contribute Diagnostic Data again from beta.4, with the charger in and nothing changed from your screenshots.

Your two screenshots disagree about which port the charger is on, and I am seeing the same thing on another machine, so it looks like ours rather than yours. The diagnostic run captures the port identifiers straight from IOKit, which is what settles which one is telling the truth.

I unplugged my hub and plugged the charger in directly, might havem just plugged it into a different port
