Problem statement: To create user friendly interface for management of library and to keep a track of complete information along with maintaining the record of new arrivals and retrieval of books in the library. Objectives: •To eliminate the paperwork in library. •A strong searching insertion and reporting capabilities. •To record transactions in computerized systems. •Automate library activities such as creating borrowers, giving book to the borrowers. •Device a proper loan system. •Keep track of the books, issue dates, return dates, author information, etc •Membership management for customers.
Tables and attributes: Some parameters which we would be including in the dataset are:
1 Book authorship: book id, author id, book name 2.Book: ISBN, book id, book title, publishing year, Category. 3.Loan book: customer id, customer name, date loaned, date due, date returned, overdue fine. 4.Customer: Customer id, customer name, city, email address, phone number.
We will add more tables and attributes as we develop the database in coming weeks.
Scope: Today's market is driven by growing demand for mobile and tablet access to libraries. A further driving factor would be the growing demand for automated database management systems in libraries, particularly public libraries. The growing adoption of software-as-a-service (SaaS) based library management systems is also expected to drive the market's growth. In addition to cataloging, SaaS-based library management systems can also manage selection, circulation, data management, reporting, and data security.
