Can't bluetooth to BlueRetro PS2 Mini to get mac address

I have been trying all afternoon to get my BlueRetro to connect to any bluetooth in order to get the mac address from it so I can connect my PS3 controller.

While the dongle is powered on, either by USB or connected to the PS2, my PC doesn't recognize it at all, but my phone bluetooth sees it and won't let me connect. I've tried 2 different android phones and both do the same thing. It either stops even trying to connect, or I will occasionally get a message about a mismatched pin even though it never offers me the ability to put in a pin, nor does the manual have a pin in it to use.

I wasn't able to BT to it right out of the box, I was able to connect USB C and update the firmware, but still can't connect.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Make sure you connect to it through the web page directly at blueretro.io by clicking Connect button. DO NOT use your computer or phone Bluetooth menu to connect.

You updated to v25.01 via USB?

directly through blueretro.io, when i tell it to connect, all i get is

Requesting Bluetooth Device...
NotFoundError
Argh! Couldn't connect to BlueRetro

on both mobile and pc, regardless of which link in the index i try and connect from.

presumably because it's not connected to bluetooth prior to running that.

when I try to connect it through android itself, then to go to the br system manager, it shows the adapter in the list but won't actually connect. When i try it on PC, it doesn't even show it in the list.

it looks like the one i updated to was 24.10 though. I will update it to 25.01 and try again.

scratch that. i'm a moron. I missed literally everything that said chrome, and apparently brave browser just wasn't gonna cut it. looks like i got it going through my phone.

I reconnected it to the PC via USB, updated to 25.01, cycled power, and now I have a solid red light and Chrome no longer sees it.
