Overview

Required user role: MEMBER

Overview shows the buckets of the project at a glance: how much data they hold, how much of it is reserved and how big their history is. Open it with the Overview item (box icon) in the side panel. It opens as a dialog over the data; move it by its title.

Buckets you have access to

  • Bucket - the icon and the name; click it to open the data of the bucket.
  • Description - the description of the bucket.
  • Rows - the number of data rows.
  • Reserved - the number of reserved rows (by anyone).
  • Last change - when a row of the bucket was last created or changed.
  • Data history - for a bucket that collects history: the number of history entries (each version of a row is an entry), the size on disk and the history limit, e.g. 500 entries · 416 kB · keep 10; off when the bucket collects no history. ⚠ marks a large history: over 500 MB, or over 5 times the size of the data.

Users with the ADMIN role can clear the whole history of a bucket (the icon at the end of the row). The data stay; the space is freed at once. To keep the history small for good, set the history limit of the bucket (Limit data history, see Buckets and Data history).

Buckets without access

Buckets with Visible in Overview (on by default, see Buckets) are listed also for users without access to their data: the name (greyed, with a lock), the description, Rows and Reserved. Ask for access sends a request to the admins of the project; the row then shows Requested with the date. After a rejection the button is back.

A bucket with Visible in Overview turned off is not listed for users without access. Users with access always see their buckets.

Access requests

Users with the ADMIN role see the number of waiting requests next to the Overview item in the side panel, and the requests at the top of Overview:

  • Approve - adds the user to the users of the bucket (Access for users). The views of the bucket are not changed: make sure the user has access to a view (by user, role or team), otherwise the data can't be shown.
  • Reject - the user can ask again.

When email is configured, the admins of the project are also emailed about a new request.

Settings

In the configuration file (see Installation):

databucket:
  overview:
history-warning-size: 500MB # a history larger than this is marked as large
history-warning-ratio: 5 # ... or larger than this times the size of the data
history-warning-ratio-min-size: 50MB # (the ratio counts only from this size on)
