New in DataCite Commons: Smoother performance, UI tweaks, and stronger connections

We’re excited to tell you about some updates we’ve made to DataCite Commons to make the service more responsive, performant, and useful. Here are the highlights:

• Speed and stability: We’ve made some under-the-hood changes to boost performance and stability. Pages should load more responsively and display data more quickly. Try a search in the Works tab to see the difference: https://commons.datacite.org/doi.org?query=figshare
• Better search results: Top search results in the Works tab should now be more relevant to your query, addressing Relevance sorting in DataCite Commons #150
• Interface tweaks: The look of the interface has been refined in several places to improve clarity and provide a more consistent experience. For example, badges have a cleaner look and People pages now mirror layouts you’ll see elsewhere in Commons.
• Expanded repository overviews: In addition to an overview of a repository’s works, DataCite Repository pages now display a list of works within that repository. Take a look at Dryad’s Repository page to see an example: https://commons.datacite.org/repositories/8orcn81
• Improved ORCID iD support: ORCID iDs in DOI metadata are more consistently linked to people in the People tab and within Works pages.
• Improved ROR support for funders: Organization pages now include works with a matching ROR in their funder identifiers, and funder organizations are linked from works pages when a ROR is included in DOI metadata. Take a look at the Funders tab for this work to see both RORs and Crossref Funder IDs in action.
• And more: We’ve rolled out numerous other tweaks and bug fixes to improve the overall Commons experience.
