We’re excited to share the latest releases and enhancements across our services. Here's what's new:

API keys now supported for DataCite API requests

DataCite now supports API keys for authenticating with the REST and MDS APIs. API keys act as an alternative to repository credentials for API authentication and enhance the security and usability of API interactions. They correspond to repository accounts, share the same permissions as repository credentials, and do not expire unless revoked. More improvements

• Metrics for citation, view, and download counts are now reflected more accurately in the REST API and DataCite Commons.
• DataCite Commons now has a “Sort” option for lists of works, enabling sort by title, most cited, most viewed, most downloaded, and relevance (the default option).
• Consortium Lead accounts can now update the Tax Status field for their Consortium Organization accounts through Fabrica.
• The resource types donut chart in the Metadata Dashboard is now easier to read, with more data visible and higher color contrast.
• Legacy REST API endpoints like /works, /members, and /data-centers are now deprecated. These endpoints were succeeded by Version 2 REST API endpoints in 2017, like /dois, /providers, and /clients. Learn more about this deprecation, including how to transition to supported Version 2 endpoints.
