📝 Project Curie Sync — Obsidian Plugin Release v0.2.0

🔧 Summary

This release introduces the first functional Obsidian plugin capable of syncing notes to the Project Curie backend. It includes device registration, heartbeat, push-sync, UI elements, and user feedback mechanisms.


🚀 New Features

1. Plugin Core Initialization

  • Loads inside Obsidian Desktop safely
  • Persistent settings stored locally
  • Auto device registration with backend

2. Push Sync (Client → Server)

  • Watches local file modifications
  • Computes SHA-256 file hashes
  • Calls /sync/diff
  • Uploads file contents when necessary

3. Heartbeat System

  • Periodic heartbeat sent every 10 seconds
  • Backend updates device last-seen timestamp
  • Connection indicator updated on each heartbeat

4. New UI Components

✔ Ribbon Icon

  • Cloud icon added to left Obsidian sidebar
  • Opens Sync Dashboard modal

✔ Sync Dashboard Modal

Shows:

  • Backend URL
  • Vault ID
  • Device ID
  • Last heartbeat time
  • Last sync time

✔ Status Bar Indicator

Displays real-time sync state:

  • 🟢 Connected
  • 🟡 Syncing
  • ⚪ Idle
  • 🔴 Error

✔ Toast Notifications

Every sync action produces clear feedback:

  • Success messages
  • Warnings for remote changes
  • Error alerts

5. Infrastructure & Quality Improvements

  • Clean API client wrapper using requestUrl
  • Hashing utility (SHA-256)
  • Sync engine with proper event flow
  • Error handling + logging within the plugin

📘 Notes

This plugin now supports a complete push-based sync loop and is ready for early alpha testing on multiple devices through Tailscale.

Pull sync and conflict resolution will be delivered in Release 0.3.x.
