Add `expand-column-to-available-width` functionality

Hi there,

niri as the option of binding a key to the expand-column-to-available-width action. Triggering this expands a column to fill all the width available on screen.

I couldn't find an equivalent functionality in scroll (maybe I'm just blind), so is there a way to achieve the same functionality in scroll somehow?

There is the toggle_size command, that can do many things. Maybe what you want is toggle_size this 1.0 1.0 ($mod+t in the default configuration).

Thank you for the lightning fast response and also your suggestion. :) Unfortunately it is not what I meant.

I probably didn't explain it very well: Assume you have two windows on a workspace. One you resize manually to some size that is different from any of the default widths. Now I would like an easy way to resize the second window in a way that both windows together fill the available screen width exactly. I can't do that by cycling through the configured layout fractions because the other window does not adhere to those.

Is there a way to do this?

OK, I get it. There is the fit_size command. It also has lots of options, like fitting all the windows, only the visible ones, etc. I don't know if that is what you want, or you need to keep the other window at its exact current size.

You can also use this script to get the active column to exactly take the remaining width left by any others in the workspace if their widths add to less than the total output width:

Store it in your lua scripts directory, and add the key binding you want. For example:

set $lua_scripts /home/xxx/.config/scroll/scripts
bindsym $mod+q lua $lua_scripts/expand-column-to-available-width.lua

No problem! I think it is a good addition to the scripts set. For this smaller things that are very user-dependent, I think scripts are the way to go, so it is easier to personalize the behavior.
