Description
Hi,
The goal is to save space on smartphones. The idea is very close to what iCloud gives (no Android analog as far as I know). The brief description:
There is a control that defines a threshold. Like, "only 10GB of media is kept locally"
There's a remote storage setup. Any service that provides API might be used. Would be great to start from [Syncthing ](https://github.com/syncthing/syncthing)integration
The gallery app (or better a side service) checks the space taken by the media, and when the threshold reached makes sure the media exists on the remote storage and deletes it from the smartphone based on the date of last access (hence, only frequently used media is kept on the smartphone). A thumbnail is generated.
When a gallery app user hits the thumbnail, the app automatically retrieves the offloaded media
What do you think? Is there a chance to see this in not-so-far future?
Thanks!
