This pull request enhances the Makefile to improve local development workflow, particularly around managing Docker containers and port usage. The most significant change is the addition of a mechanism to automatically free up commonly used ports before starting the development environment, reducing conflicts and setup errors.

Docker and port management improvements:

• Added a free-ports target that detects and stops any running Docker containers occupying ports listed in the new PORTS_TO_FREE variable (defaults to ports 80, 1313, and 1314). This helps prevent port conflicts when starting the environment. [1] [2]
• Modified the up target to first bring down any running containers and then invoke free-ports before starting up, ensuring a clean and conflict-free environment.
• Updated the down target to also run docker compose down --remove-orphans, ensuring all orphaned containers are removed.

Makefile maintenance:

• Declared free-ports as a .PHONY target for proper Makefile behavior.
• Minor formatting clean-up at the end of the file.
