Security Update
CVE: CVE-2026-25506
Fix buffer overflow vulnerability in munged that allows a local attacker
to leak cryptographic key material and forge arbitrary MUNGE credentials.
Details
A buffer overflow vulnerability was discovered in the MUNGE authentication daemon (munged).
In affected versions (0.5 to 0.5.17), a local attacker can exploit this vulnerability to leak
cryptographic key material from the munged daemon process memory. With the leaked key material,
the attacker could forge arbitrary MUNGE credentials to impersonate any user (including root)
to services that rely on MUNGE for authentication.
