Feature request: Sidebar for repo switching

Hey,

Jumping between repos in GitHub Desktop is a bit awkward when you’re working on a few at the same time. It’d be nice to have a simple sidebar where you can switch repos in one click—something like cmux or the Codex macOS app.

Nothing fancy, just a list of repos (recent or pinned). Maybe collapsible so it doesn’t take up space.

Would make moving between projects a lot smoother.

This has been requested a few times before and is tracked in #16175, which covers the same idea of having the repository list always visible as a sidebar. #19173 is another recent example that was also closed as a duplicate of that issue.

We're going to close this one in favor of #16175 to keep the conversation in one place. Feel free to add your thoughts or a +1 over there to help signal community interest!
