@0709wiwiwi thanks for the idea! "Profiles" would be more suitable and recognized (?) by the users. We will need a manager, as users should not required to use files. |

I like the idea of this - certainly it might be useful if you wish to use Cruiser with a totally different GUI/config setup on a regular basis with faster switching than the "Preferences" import/export (which is more Power User, in my opinion). Putting my "new user" hat on - I feel like an in-app manager would be better for the load/save/import/export unless any of the popular Cloud/Dropbox options would require the user to navigate "around the folders" using the in-built Android file system. From a UX point-of-view, if any kind of activity can be handled "in app" with the Cruiser style/theme then it makes for a better product. |

Would it be possible to save the BRouter profile in the preferences? Originally posted by @Leeb64 in #266 (comment). Preference files save everything, app settings, BRouter profiles / no-go areas, etc. Currently when loading preference files, BRouter profiles / no-go areas were not restored. This will work properly in next Cruiser: everything will be restored from the preference files. |

"Profile manager" is one of the next big features that are currently being prepared in Cruiser.
You can manage your app profiles on one screen and switch between profiles easily with just 1 click. |

I suppose that .pref file should disappear and use the .json files to save preferences. So in this situation, a complete backup will need one json for each profile. It could be more difficult (or take more time for users) but allow the ability to share profiles. Maybe the new concept of the "old" import/export could be to save all (or selected) profiles in a folder, and something similar to import. If this is complicate or too much work, save the used profiles is not complicate and just take less than a minute. json files are human readable and allow a simple user to compare 2 profiles easily, I think is a good idea the new format. There are more than 300 settings saved on each profile, this is a high level of customisation! |

Looking through the .json file, I see a record of the type
When you look closely, many of them seem to be related to other profiles. For example, a motorcycle profile and the parameters of hiking trails are described... Which of course doesn't change the fact that
And for that, many of us love him ❤️
Maybe the "Import all" function to complete? Also for Favorites it would make sense if icons, colors and visibility on the map/route were also imported 🙂 |

(now that all reports have been resolved) Please test the new profile manager very well and let me know if we need anything else: |

I see the new option to export all profiles to a ZIP file. It works, and the name is the timestamp, useful to have versions. If I'm not wrong, to import, we need to select which profile import with long tap and then select the uncompressed file stored into the zip. For me it's OK, better than import all profiles at the same time. There's no need to have the same names from new "container" profile and backup profile. |

I'm just thinking... Having an "Urban Motorcycle" profile (prefers fast roads but not highways), a "Country Motorcycle" profile (only tertiary and gravel roads), and a "Road Motorcycle" profile (prefers highways), we will easily create a dream trip. That is three segments: shortest and fastest to the borders of the city, then a pleasant trip through the backcountry, away from the cities, and finally back on the highway for dinner. What's more! With the "Hiking" profile, we can plan a walk in the forest in the meantime (I know, it's uncomfortable with a helmet and moto boots 😀). This is a super universal solution that is a dream come true! By adding even a walk, it is even more than we know and remember 🙂 Well, it's probably not that simple. For example, the fact that changing the profile requires restarting the application... But it's nice to dream 🙂 |

A great new feature is coming to app profiles:
I changed the profile loading mechanism (there are very few settings that need restart). |

Another interesting feature is that each profile could only display its own settings. e.g. "Motorcycle" profiles show only the motorcycle options for BRouter, speeds, voice distances, etc. This would greatly simplify the settings, so users don't see options of other profiles. |

More profile improvements are available in: App language is now global and there are more checks for the (global) storage folder. Please try to break the profiles! Import other profiles as If you see anything strange, please let me know and try to remember your steps. |

With the new profile manager, I am thinking to add more profile types:
Do you think we need more or something related to bikes or motor vehicles? |

I am not a fan of such "hidden features" (like the current profile manager), I prefer when everything is immediately and directly recognizable and accessible without the need to "tap somewhere to check if there is some functionality hidden behind"... These app profiles function are usefully fine. However each minor change during an operation is immediately saved in the current profile. |

I am preparing a trip to Greece and experimented a bit with profile ex/import to synchronize my 3 devices Pixel 6 (on the bike, navigation only), Pixel 7pro (my phone), RealmePad (for route planning in the hotel). |
