Make GPX export customizable

I have no problem with the Cruiser import. Anything I plan (using Kurviger.com and Komoot.com) or receive from others, I can import and navigate. I don’t use any other navigation tool (not even Google Maps!). When I ride alone - tutti paletti!

But if I take someone along who doesn’t use Cruiser (yes, hard to believe there are still people like that), then some extra work is required. That’s because the exported file isn’t compatible with Garmin, TomTom, or other devices. The common denominator would be the .gpx file - however, that is designed by Cruiser as a navigable track. Unfortunately, the details it contains are only processed by a few tools.

Two years ago, everything was perfect, as confirmed by passengers - see Workflow_Kurviger_Cruiser_Garmin_en.pdf. I was able to meet all requirements using Kurviger and Cruiser. Today, I have to reactivate another tool from days gone by: GPXshaping.de. But this tool also doesn’t read the information in trkpt - so I export a .kurviger file and then use GPXshaping.de to generate the final export in .gpx format with rte to ride the same route.

It’s no big deal - I’ll just adjust my workflow. But maybe the customization of the .gpx export could be offered again, just like two years ago?

The default then could be: navigable and track. I forgot the impact of selecting "Garmin" ...

Likewise, and I use BaseCamp to plan and export my route+waypoint GPX files to Cruiser (and K2 prior to that) which it always faithfully replicated. I rarely copy anything from Cruiser to BaseCamp but I've done some tests and concur that the old method/options were better - not just for getting a like-for-like route off the phone and into the PC but the sharing aspect described by @WolfgangZ42

If a solution can be agreed upon that works for all those concerned, I'd be happy to start/help documenting it in the Wiki.

We can offer an extra dialog to select the GPX export content:

• Track
• Route
• Add favorites

The track can always contain the navigation data, it is compatible everywhere for readers that can read it or not.
The route can contain the Garmin extension as it does not cause problems with readers, they can read it or not.

This improvement is useful!
Until now I always opened the .gpx file in notepad to remove the <rte> </rte> part from it.
