Validation as a custom function

Once more - thank you for such a great framework!

Is it possible to add a validation of field via custom function?
In my case i want to validate if the value is in some range based other field value (e.g. apartment number based on selected house)

somethink like

Or other case - make enum array dynamically updated based on connected field (but i think this one is harder to implement)

Hey @TrilipuT , thanks a lot for sharing your demand, this really helps us to improve. I think we will implement it.

Some background: Function was pretty obvious solution, but why we did only regEx validations there for now:
We wanted to implement validation both on frontend and backend with single rule definition, so first it validates on frontend in realtime with two-way binding (for best UX) and then when data go to backend they are re-validated there as protection against direct rest-API calls. So if it would be a function - we cant "copy" this function to frontend (probably some sort of very complex eval - we can , but have not thought about it yet). Simple solution is to call function via API, but it would a little bit make validations slower on frontend, and make them dependent on stable network connection (But probably we will go with this solution because of your request ;), so if user defines function, validation will not be in Vuish way, but will call backend and check validation result, so there will be single point of definition)

What you can do right now

By current design there is only one method to implement complex validations:

If you need it on frontend only:

Simply create component on edit component (feel free to use npx adminforth component CLI for this) , check quick example

Simply emit inValidity every time when user changes input (e.g. watch input value). In props there is realtime access to whole record with its other fields.

If you need on backend only: just use hooks

If you need hooks unfortunately for now you have to duplicate logic: have it in hook and frontend component.

Exactly this method should be used for enums as well, it can not only validate but simply re-render enums list.

You can use AFCL components inside custom inputs, https://adminforth.dev/docs/tutorial/Customization/afcl/ , for enum single dropdown works

BTW there is plan and soon will be implemented npx adminforth component CLI will not only create bolerplate for every field but will also suggest HTML which is by default used inside in standard adminforth renderer, so when you will use adminforth component CLI fro component which has enum it will already suggest you component which will work in the same way as internals adminforth component, and only thing you will need is add prefiltering on enum items
