Hi there!

in homekit I see the lock "Wohnungstür" and switch "Wohungstür". The switch shows battery status and a configuration for a press event.
Can I hide this switch?

No idea what this means, can you provide an example. As far as I can tell the original post is about Ring Intercom as there is mention of a lock, and it has never been possible to exclude the programmable switch in that case. Honestly, I'm not even sure why this is requested, what actual impact does having the programmable switch cause?

Thanks for your reply. I’m also referring to the issue mentioned in the original post. For months, I had the Ring Intercom added via Homebridge (excluding the programmable switch), and then integrated it into Home Assistant. The exclusion was important to me because when I add it to HomeKit, I can’t hide the programmable switch from any views, and it disrupts the tidy layout I maintain in the Home app. It also messes up the Home app widget: now, when I press the button to open the door from the widget, it opens the app and asks me to slide up instead of opening the door directly.

As a workaround, I’ve created a dummy toggle in Home Assistant that triggers the Ring Intercom switch, and I’ve only added that toggle to HomeKit.

@gabrifly Sorry, but I was asking what specific steps you were taking to perform the exclusion that worked previously as that is not clear at all. There have been no changes to homebridge-ring around this functionality since intercom support was added in December 2022, thus it seems we are speaking more about changes in the behavior of the Home app or something else.

@tsightler sure, I forgot to specify the stesps. So previously, I added the ring plugin to homebridge, connected to my ring account and intercom device, and from plugin config, checked the box for hiding the programmable switch. This worked, as I then exposed it to HA, and from HA to HomeKit. After a recent restart of my docker environment, I saw the programmable switch appearing all of a sudden in HomeKit. Went to plugin config, and hit again the checkbox to hide the switch. It did not work. I alato tried to remove everything from homebridge, HA, and HomeKit, and also exposing directly from homebridge to HomeKit. Nothing worked so far, I can still see the programmable switch

@gabrifly Thanks for the details, but I think your issue is not directly related to this plugin. As I noted earlier, homebridge-ring has never contained any logic that supported disabling the programmable switch for an intercom, the hideDoorbellSwitch option in the configuration has only ever applied to video doorbells (the logic to hide the switch simply doesn't existing in intercom.ts, and has never existed there, you can see the history of this file yourself).

I think perhaps your issue is that HA fairly recently added support for exposing programmable switches via Homekit Bridge, however, since you are using HA, why not just use that to filter whatever devices you want, support for filtering Homekit devices in HA is extremely granular.
