Install git on the command line

On OSX:

this step requires the homebrew package manager. if you don't have this, click here to install homebrew

1. open a terminal window, and run:

brew install git

2. If asked to install xcode, do so.

On Windows:

Install chocolatey: https://chocolatey.org/docs/installation

Then, using either the command line or powershell, run:

choco install git.install
