iCloud calendar as CalDAV source

Hello,

did anyone manage to configure the calendar widget with an iCloud.com CalDAV URL? I tried with an iCloud app specific password any my Apple ID as username. This works for other CalDAV clients but on Tesserae I get the message Refresh failed for <CALENDAR>: couldn't reach the feed URL. Check the URL is reachable from the server.

I can reach other CalDAV servers from my installation. The only difference here is the authentication (Basic). Any idea how to debug this?

Thanks for the report; this turned out to be a real gap rather than something wrong with your setup. Two things were going on:

1. Calendar feeds were fetched as "download an .ics file over GET". Self-hosted servers like Baikal, Radicale and Nextcloud expose a GET-able export of each calendar, which is why those work for you. As far as I can tell, iCloud has no .ics export over CalDAV at all; events are only readable via REPORT requests, which Tesserae didn't speak.
2. iCloud answers a plain GET with a 403 that carries no auth challenge, and Tesserae's basic auth only responded to a 401 challenge, so your app-specific password was likely never even sent. That's also why the error message was so unhelpfully generic.

Both are addressed in v0.380.0 (edge): feeds now fall back to a CalDAV REPORT (calendar-query) when the URL has no GET-able export, basic credentials are sent on the first request, and refresh errors now show the actual reason (e.g. HTTP 403).

To set it up: Widgets → Calendar Feeds → Discover, with https://caldav.icloud.com/ as the URL, auth mode Basic, your Apple ID as username and the app-specific password. It should list your calendars so you can add each in one click.

I don't have an iCloud calendar to test the full round trip against, so I'd appreciate you confirming whether it works on your end once you're on v0.380.0.

Hi, I tried discovery as described but it does not work. All I get as response is Server returned HTTP 400..

I'm running latest in a manual Docker setup. Also tried to set TESSERAE_LOG_LEVEL to debug but it does not give more information.

The new HA calendar feature fulfills my needs, but I'm happy to help if you need an iCloud tester.
