Nashville Chart Builder

Welcome to the Nashville Chart Builder Wiki.

Nashville Chart Builder is a browser-based application for creating professional Nashville Number System charts, chord charts, and companion lyric sheets. I created this program because I didn't like any of the other chart creation programs that were already out there. It currently works best on a display device with landscape layout (like a standard computer monitor or a laptop.)

The application:

  • Runs entirely in the browser
  • Requires no installation
  • Works offline
  • Generates printable charts
  • Supports both NNS and standard chords
  • Saves projects as JSON files

Design Philosophy

Nashville Chart Builder follows several principles:

Fast

Charts should be editable in real time during rehearsal.

Portable

Charts are stored as simple JSON files.

Printable

Printed charts should look professional without additional formatting.

Offline

No server or account is required.

Musician-Friendly

Notation emphasizes real-world musician workflows rather than theoretical complexity.

Major Features

  • Standard chord notation
  • Automatic NNS ↔ Chord conversion
  • Beat-duration notation
  • Repeat markers
