• document all frankenphp "make" commands, and run them again and test them all

1. Configuration Validation Commands

Validate FrankenPHP config:
docker compose exec -t franken frankenphp validate --config=/etc/frankenphp/Caddyfile
Result: Valid configuration (initially had formatting warning)

Validate Worker config:
docker compose exec -t franken-worker frankenphp validate --config=/etc/frankenphp/Caddyfile
Result: Valid configuration

2. Configuration Formatting

Format Caddyfile (removes warnings):
docker compose exec -t franken frankenphp fmt --overwrite /etc/frankenphp/Caddyfile
Result: Successfully formatted, validation warnings disappeared

3. Configuration Management

View JSON configuration:
docker compose exec -t franken frankenphp adapt --config=/etc/frankenphp/Caddyfile --adapter caddyfile
Result: Outputs JSON representation of Caddyfile

With formatted output:
docker compose exec -t franken-worker frankenphp adapt --config=/etc/frankenphp/Caddyfile --adapter caddyfile | jq '.apps.frankenphp'
Result: Pretty-printed JSON showing workers, num, watch settings, and php_ini

Reload configuration (zero downtime):
docker compose exec -t franken frankenphp reload --config=/etc/frankenphp/Caddyfile
Result: Successfully reloaded configuration

4. Container Management

Stop/Start FrankenPHP:
make down-franken # Stops container
make up-franken # Starts container
Result: Container stopped and restarted successfully

Stop/Start Worker:
make down-worker # Stops worker container
make up-worker # Starts worker container
Result: Worker container stopped and restarted successfully

5. Metrics Endpoints

FrankenPHP metrics (port 2019):

Result: Shows metrics including:

• frankenphp_total_threads: 16
• frankenphp_busy_threads: 0
• frankenphp_queue_depth: 0

Worker metrics (port 2020):

6. Load Testing

k6 load test:

Result:

• Completed 3000 iterations with 100 VUs in 25 seconds
• Throughput: ~120 requests/second
• Average response time: 811.87ms
• Generated HTML report: k6/report-2025-11-24T10-25-03.995Z.html
• Note: Test endpoint returned 405 (Method Not Allowed) - endpoint may need seeding or different URL
