New: CoreML Backend for Apple Silicon

Parakeet now supports CoreML-accelerated transcription on macOS Apple Silicon via FluidAudio. ~155x real-time on M4 Pro.

Smart Install

parakeet install auto-detects your platform:

  • macOS arm64: downloads the CoreML binary (model files managed by FluidAudio on first transcription)
  • Linux/other: downloads ONNX models (~3GB) as before

Override with --coreml or --onnx flags.

Backend Selection

At runtime, CoreML is preferred when available, with automatic ONNX fallback.

Other Changes

  • CI now runs on Linux, Windows, and macOS
  • Parallelized ONNX model initialization for faster cold starts
  • Fixed potential pipe deadlock in CoreML subprocess communication
  • Added CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md for AI-assisted development
