In #Venice-2026-spatial > Question on SpatialExperiment licensing I asked if it's possible to change the SingleCellExperiment license to something less restrictive than GPL-3, e.g., Artistic-2.0, which is the one used in all the upstream dependencies except for SingleCellExperiment. R is actually GPL-2 | GPL-3, which is a change being considered for SingleCellExperiment as discussed in this issue.
Apparently, all authors need to agree to change the license (see e.g., here). So, if you are an author of SpatialExperiment, please give your word here whether you would agree to change the license to either Artistic-2.0, as in SummarizedExperiment, or GPL-2 | GPL-3 as in R, or if you would prefer to leave it in GPL-3.
