How to exclude android\build folder?

What would be the syntax to patch a package, excluding the contents of the android\build folder?

I tried --exclude "android\build" but it didn't work.

this has worked for me @bradstiff

depending on your OS you may have to escape things differently on windows vs linux which is what the below is setup for.
