We are looking for real, useful first PRs for ai-language-partner, a local-first Japanese speaking practice app for Korean learners.

Good first contribution areas:

• Korean/Japanese docs and learner notes
• Japanese naturalness review
• Beginner-safe dialogue/content review
• Mobile accessibility and Expo polish
• FastAPI/OpenAPI examples
• Small tests/tooling improvements

You do not need local speech engines, generated audio, private data, or API keys to make a useful PR. Docs-only and language-review PRs are welcome when they improve real learner or contributor experience.

Context: the project is building toward the Claude for OSS community-builder route: 20+ unique external contributors with useful merged PRs in the last 12 months. Only real external contributors with useful merged PRs count. Maintainer PRs, bots, duplicate identities, and metric-only changes are excluded.

Contribution Guidelines

• Docs, content review, Korean/Japanese wording, accessibility, API
  examples, tests, and setup docs can all help learners or the project.
• Keep related corrections together instead of splitting trivial typo
  fixes across separate PRs.
• Link the issue or problem in your PR and name the smallest relevant
  check you ran.
• If you want to avoid duplicate work, comment /claim on an issue.
