A new way to look at the costliness of plays deemed as errors in MLB
This data looks at errors in the Stacast Era (2015-present) with games up to August 12, 2024
The premise of the argument is that some plays deemed errors (though arbitrary by themselves) are more costly than others.
Ex. An error in the bottom of the ninth inning in a tie game is not the same as an error in a 8 run game in the ninth inning. While not indicative of player performance as a whole, it is a starting point to see which players seem to make errors at more pivotal times.
