Feature Request: Visual Staging Environment Indicator in Backend

I would like to request an improvement to make it easier to distinguish between staging and production environments within the Dynamicweb backend.

Currently, there is no strong visual indicator that clearly shows when a user is working in a staging environment. This increases the risk of confusion and potential mistakes, especially in teams working across multiple environments.

While I understand that there are upcoming updates introducing a visual indicator at the bottom of the backend, this solution does not feel sufficiently prominent or noticeable in day-to-day usage.

Proposed solution:

  • Allow configuration of a top banner in the backend (e.g. “STAGING” or “TEST ENVIRONMENT”).
  • Optionally allow customization of the primary backend color theme per environment.
  • Make this configurable through standard settings (e.g. via config or environment settings), without requiring custom code.

Benefits:

  • Immediate visual clarity for all users
  • Reduced risk of working in the wrong environment
  • Better support for teams managing multiple environments

This would be a simple but very impactful improvement for usability and safety.
