i agree but lets get a 2nd opinion on this one since its very widely used.

i agree too, but there's also another option now that node 20 is about to reach its eol date: path.matchesGlob, which got added in node 22.5. i feel like it's the best option if for projects that use node >=22. there's a small caveat though and it's the fact that it currently uses minimatch under the hood which is slow
