Interoperability with existing schemas

A range of ontologies exist which describe datasets in a structured way. This issue is to ensure that any metadata assembled by this utility makes use of existing schemas wherever possible. This may take the form of a system for transforming outputs into a series of alternate representations which conform to well-known vocabularies appropriate to the input datasets and to their intended use.

Noteworthy in this respect is the I-ADOPT working-group recommendations which provides a structured methodology for describing variables.
