Improvement: Add tests to check if PREFIX is removed correctly from link

With the newly added functionality that external needs prefix can be removed before the regex is changed from links, we should add tests to ensure this functionality is working as intended too after refactors. 

I wanted to add tests, but since we need to define new BUILD files etc. it seems not as trivial as initially thought.
