Accent alignment could be better #11

What steps will reproduce the problem?
$\ddot{o}\acute{e}\grave{e}\hat{O}\breve{\imath}\tilde{n}\vec{q}$
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Most of the accents appear to be too far to the left. It is particularly
bad with the STIX fonts.
TeX itself performs italic compensation where the angle of the italic
character is taken into account when placing the accent. mathtex currently
doesn't do this because it used to be difficult to determine if the
underlying character was italicized. This should be easier now.
