Cannot open docs after opening and closing a new document

What Happened?

A new document was opened and closed without saving, Attempts to open documents from the sidebar or create new documents then failed with terminal error -
(io.elementary.code:13649): Handy-CRITICAL **: 11:03:54.528: hdy_tab_view_insert: assertion 'position <= self->n_pages' failed

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open a project and a document within it
2. Press the "New document" button
3. Close the resulting document without saving
4. Try to open another document

Expected Behavior

Documents should open as normal.
