Second pre-release. The plugin has a new name: EDH Block Converter for Divi.

Make a database backup before you convert content on a real site.

Changes

  • New name and slug (edh-block-converter-for-divi). WordPress.org does not permit "gutenberg" in a plugin name or slug. The text domain, the REST namespace, and the admin screen (Tools > Block Converter for Divi) have the new name.
  • Fix: a section with a background image now keeps the content width of the theme.
  • Tested up to WordPress 7.1. Plugin Check reports no errors for the release files.

Upgrade from 0.1.0

Version 0.1.0 had the name "EDH Divi to Gutenberg". The folder name is different, thus WordPress sees a different plugin. Deactivate and delete 0.1.0, then install this zip. The backups of converted posts stay valid, because the post meta keys did not change. Do not delete 0.1.0 with the EDH_DG_DELETE_BACKUPS constant set.

Installation

Download edh-block-converter-for-divi-0.1.1.zip below, then use Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin. Requires WordPress 6.6 and PHP 7.4.

What it does

  • Reads the stored Divi 4 shortcodes. Divi does not need to be active.
  • Writes only core blocks. You can remove the plugin after the migration.
  • Saves the original content before each write. You can restore each post.
  • Shows a preview and a report before you convert a post.
  • Keeps the content and the basic design: alignment, colours, gradients, padding, margin, and backgrounds.
  • Keeps the modified date of each post.
  • Resolves global modules, global colours, and dynamic content.

How to use it

  • Admin screen: Tools > Block Converter for Divi.
  • WP-CLI: wp edh-divi scan, wp edh-divi convert [<id>...] [--all] [--dry-run], wp edh-divi restore [<id>...] [--all].

Known limits

  • Divi 5 content is not converted at this time.
  • Hover effects, animations, responsive values, and custom CSS are not kept.
  • Sliders, tabs, counters, maps, and pricing tables become simple blocks. The report shows each one.
  • Contact forms, email opt-ins, sidebars, icons, and WooCommerce product modules have no equivalent. The report shows each one.
  • Theme Builder templates are not converted.
