dots-hyprland - Illogical Impulse Quickshell - Obarun

No show and tell just yet, but I wanted to start a thread to share what I've found so far, and to see if anyone has ideas for how to resolve any of the issues I've found. If nothing else, maybe it will provide a small bit of a trail toward these dots working on [another] non-systemd distro?

To be clear, I'm still relatively new to Linux and how to resolve its problems, so some of these might be easy to rectify, but outside my experience.

• Most dependencies install clean.
• brightnessctl can be replaced with brightnessctl-git from the obcommunity repo.
• kde-material-you-colors fails due to a stale version of kcoreaddons in the obcommunity repo; I'm not sure how to find out who maintains it there, so this might be a waiting game.
• quickshell-git fails due to a problem with google-breakpad; I'm not clear on what this is, but it's possible that it depends on an older version of gcc than I have installed (this is very much a stab in the dark guess).
• Several services will need to be set up for s6-66; I'm not clear on how to do that yet, but I don't expect it to be terribly difficult (I'll reply to this post with whatever process I end up finding for the purpose).

So far, the only pain point seems to be a couple of outdated packages, both of which should be resolvable. Given past development timelines, a new version of google-breakpad should be out soon and I could probably build kcoreaddons from source...or find out how to get the repo updated.

hi , i have the same problem , launched the script and at some point it just tell me quickshell-git error with google-breakpad. did you find any fix ? Im also a linux beginer so yeah tryna figure out how to fix this.
