Getting started
Ready-made Linux ARM64/AMD64 images are published in GitHub Container Registry. A Docker Hub account and local compilation are not needed. Install Docker Engine and the Docker Compose plugin first; if they already run your other containers, use the existing installation.
Follow the stable installation guide for checksum-verified, digest-pinned Compose downloads and a persistent local volume.
Choose the appropriate access profile:
-
compose.yamlfrom the release: host loopback access. -
compose.lan.yaml: an explicitly configured trusted LAN/VPN address and allowed host:port list, without a password. -
compose.auth.yaml: the same controlled network access with an optional shared password.
Use an unused port. The Tortuga example uses 18088, not the occupied 8088. Keep the project name, .env and qsobook_data volume stable during updates. Only run one QSObook instance against a notebook. Do not expose the password-free profile to the public internet.
Open the configured URL in a phone/computer browser, choose a language/theme under Preferences and enter QSO mode. Test with fictitious stations first. Maps are optional and initially disabled. Enabling maps/geocoding discloses geographic requests; callsigns, names and notes are never sent to geographic providers.
Stable v0.2.0 includes RadioID and uses schema 8. v0.1.0 cannot open the upgraded notebook; preserve a pre-upgrade backup for rollback. To build locally instead, follow the source Docker guide. RadioID is independently off by default; enabling it permits exact backend callsign lookups and bounded daily retries.
