Finalize Apple Watch monitoring and record control

Goal

Harden the Apple Watch companion into a reliable wrist monitor and record remote for production use.

Why it matters

The companion already carries live view, status, LUT presentation, and record commands. The remaining work is to make those paths dependable across reconnects, background transitions, and real-world Watch conditions.

Proposed experience

• Keep the Watch feed visually aligned with the selected monitor LUT
• Make record and stop commands reliable, acknowledged, and resistant to duplicate taps
• Recover automatically when the phone or Watch app changes state
• Keep timecode, battery, storage, and recording status current
• Balance preview quality and cadence against Watch heat and battery life

Success looks like

An operator can glance at the Watch, trust the displayed state, and roll or cut a take without wondering whether the command reached the camera.

Open questions

• What preview cadence is sustainable across Watch models?
• Which status should remain visible when the live frame is temporarily unavailable?
• What acknowledgement and retry behavior gives the safest record control?
