Finalize and validate USB-C tethered transport

Goal

Complete hardware validation and production hardening for the existing USB-C camera transport.

Why it matters

A wired connection can offer a simpler, more deterministic set workflow than camera Wi-Fi, but it must match the resilience and safety of the primary connection path before it is considered finished.

Proposed experience

• Validate discovery, pairing, live view, camera control, media, and recording on Nikon ZR hardware
• Reconnect cleanly after cable removal, camera sleep, app backgrounding, and transport errors
• Keep feature behavior consistent between USB-C and Wi-Fi where the camera supports it
• Show actionable connection and cable-state errors
• Document supported cables, adapters, devices, and camera settings

Success looks like

A user can connect a supported camera over USB-C, complete a full shooting session, and recover from ordinary disconnects without restarting the app or camera.

Open questions

• Which Apple devices, cables, and hubs form the supported matrix?
• Are any PTP operations unavailable or behaviorally different over USB?
• How should the app choose between simultaneous wired and wireless camera paths?
