Live tethering and photography mode

Goal

Extend OpenZCine from cinema monitoring into a dependable live-tether and still-photography workflow over USB-C and supported Wi-Fi connections.

Why it matters

A photographer should be able to keep the camera on set, trigger stills, inspect the result on a larger display, and move selects into a delivery workflow without changing apps or breaking the camera connection.

Proposed experience

• A dedicated photography mode with still-capture controls and photo-oriented status
• Live tethering with reliable capture, preview, and reconnect behavior
• Fast review of newly captured images with metadata and focus inspection
• Optional transfer or save of selected captures to the Apple device
• A clear switch between stills and cinema workflows without unsafe camera-state changes

Success looks like

A Nikon Z operator can connect once, shoot a stills session, review each capture on-device, and recover cleanly from cable or network interruptions.

Open questions

• Which Nikon Z bodies and still-image formats should be validated first?
• Should tethered captures transfer full files automatically, on demand, or as previews first?
• Which photography controls belong in the first release?
