Hello Etsy Developer Support,

We are currently developing an integration with the Etsy Open API and need to validate the complete order lifecycle against Etsy production APIs.

We understand that Etsy does not provide a traditional sandbox and that normal purchases are subject to Etsy’s payment and fraud review. We also understand that Customer Support cannot whitelist or bypass payment review for a particular transaction.

Our question is specifically about the supported developer testing workflow.

We created a low-value real listing:

We then placed an order using a separate account controlled by our team. The payment was initially accepted, but Etsy subsequently cancelled the transaction during review.

We can provide the cancelled order number privately if needed.

We need to test the complete integration flow involving an actual Etsy order/receipt, including retrieving the resulting order through the Open API and validating our downstream processing.

Could you please clarify:

1. Is there an officially supported way for Open API developers to create a real test order/receipt?
2. Can Etsy authorize specific developer buyer/seller accounts for controlled end-to-end testing?
3. Does Developer Mode provide any supported mechanism for testing order creation or purchases?
4. If real test orders are intentionally unsupported, what testing strategy does Etsy expect developers to use before deploying an order integration to real sellers?
5. Is there any way to generate a test receipt that can subsequently be retrieved through getShopReceipt / related production API endpoints?

We are not asking to bypass fraud controls for normal marketplace activity. We are asking for the officially supported method for testing an Etsy Open API integration that depends on real order/receipt data.

We can provide our application name, keystring, shop ID, buyer account details, and any other information required privately for verification.

There are some guidelines for the testing store:

• You should place "test" before your Etsy shop name.
• Include the "test" keyword before the title so that real buyers don't buy it currently your item is showing in 7 carts.
• Maybe this is the reason it says "canceled your order."
• For the test items, you should place the item price near about $0.20.
  Maybe this information may help you to get the testing completed, but I am not really sure whether it will really help you or not. These are some best practices for the test accounts.

Thanks for recommendations, today will try to follow them.
Regarding 7 carts, it is interesting moment. When I put product to the cart in my test accounts and then make an order (that going to be cancelled), the number of carts with this test product does not decreased.
I mean:

1. I add new test product to my test shop
2. As test user I put the product to my cart and make an order
3. Order is cancelled by Etsy
4. Open test product again from another test account. I see that my product has placed in 1 cart.
