Architecture: should cli define a stable automation contract?

Question: yes or no?

Should cli guarantee:

• stable JSON output rules
• stable JSON error envelope shape
• explicit exit code semantics

Value: this makes the CLI safer to use in scripts, CI, and agent workflows.

If yes, I can implement this as a first-class contract across commands.

Generally, I like this. I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that the API already provided this. If not can you provide some examples of what the before / after would be? If it's easier to do so via Claude / Codex and showing via PR instead of telling, that's fine w me.
