Have not been able to test this, but hopefully this should allow us to run on 2.4.9-alpha3. I can see that elasticsearch8 is still valid in that version https://github.com/magento/magento2/blob/fa801495083bdfd07d54775566fd85c0394e2ce1/setup/src/Magento/Setup/Model/SearchConfigOptionsList.php#L152 and we are using phpunit v10 So fingers crossed this works
