Nginx config example

Has anyone actually used the provided nginx configuration?

I'm not an nginx expert, but after messing with it about an hour I haven't got it to work.
One of the problems I ran into is that nested if statements are not allowed in nginx config files...
I managed to fix that, but then it's still throwing up random 302 & 404 errors.
