This PR updates the software technical reference documentation to reflect changes made in PlanktoScope/device-backend#48 and PlanktoScope/device-backend#32 , since I had forgotten to update the documentation when I merged those two pull requests in #467 and #399, respectively.
This PR also flattens bulleted lists in the modified pages, since MkDocs appears to be unable to correctly render nested bullet lists and instead flattens them.
