Six months since the last commit, lots of open PRs, and no updates

Hi All,

I have some limited permissions on this repo.

I am considering how to triage the open issues and PRs. I can take a look at addressing simple issues, and simple PRs, and merge where I can.

Any PRs that are complex (i.e. change multiple files, or modify the core operation of InkyPi) I am tempted to close.

Any issues that haven't haven't had an update from the OP for months I am also tempted to close.

Feel free to comment here regarding this.

I've closed a bunch of issue that were:

• Stale - no updates in months, and probably no longer relevant
• Completed - issue was resolved by an update to InkyPi, or an answer was provided, and the OP failed to mark the issue as complete.
• Unrelated - issue was not related with InkyPi

The vast majority of the remaining open issues are requests for enhancements. I feel like we want to track these requests somewhere, but if we (as a community) are unlikely to implement any of them, it maybe better to close these as won't implement, to keep the issue backlog clear for break fix issues. I'm not sure, as this isn't my project.

A couple of small QoL PRs have been merged. These types of PR are easier to understand, test, and merge if good. If I see anymore like this I'll attempt to spend some time on them (until I get bored of doing so).

I propose to go through the open PRs, and any that are pushing new plugins I'll close with a suggestion for the OP to refactor their code as a 3rd party plugin.

Any PRs that are complex (i.e. touch multiple files), or change the logic of InkyPi, I will ignore.

Update: 2026-08-29

I've either closed or merged several open PRs (getting the total from ~54 down to 37), thanks to all those who contributed. 🙏

The result of which any remaining open PRs may need to rebase, and conflicts resolved, to become mergeable.

I may review the remaining PRs and any that fit the description above (small change, don't change InkyPi's logic, easy to test) I may ask the author to rebase.

I also bumped a bunch of dependency package versions to address security issues (59 down to 0).

There are a couple of PRs open to fix bugs with some Waveshare screens, which I don't have, so any help testing those PRs would be gratefully received:

Fix init() crash on Waveshare grayscale displays (epd3in7)
Fix "OSError: [Errno 9] Bad file descriptor" for Waveshare EPDs

If you can test, please comment on the PR with your suggestions or test results.

Yes, this repo is still alive! The last commit was on July 16, 2026, which is recent. The project seems active and maintained. If you're looking for a stable fork, this is a good one.
