GPL Filters

Separate from the GPL-licensed encoders (x264/x265/xvidcore — see Licensing), FFmpeg itself ships several filters that are GPL-licensed at the source level, per the FFmpeg License. These are only available in the Full GPL tier (built with --enable-gpl):

  • blackframe
  • boxblur
  • colormatrix
  • cover_rect
  • cropdetect
  • delogo
  • eq
  • find_rect
  • fspp
  • histeq
  • hqdn3d
  • kerndeint
  • lensfun
  • mcdeint
  • mpdecimate
  • mptestsrc
  • nnedi
  • owdenoise
  • perspective
  • phase
  • pp
  • pp7
  • pullup
  • repeatfields
  • sab
  • signature
  • smartblur
  • spp
  • stereo3d
  • super2xsai
  • tinterlace
  • uspp
  • vaguedenoiser

If a command using any of these fails with a "No such filter" error on the Free, Basic, or Full tier, that's why — switch to Full GPL (note: this changes your app's licensing obligations, see Licensing) or avoid the filter.
